Manufacturers and suppliers who want to guarantee that their timber products originate from a certified forest, and who want to pass this guarantee onto the end user, need to provide proof of the origin. This is accomplished by way of Chain Of Custody Certification.
Control Union Certifications (CUC) is an independent certification body that carries out inspections, audits, verifications and awards certificates for the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes), Keurhout and the EU Timber Regulation (EU TR). We have a global network of offices in more than 60 countries. This allows us to make our work more efficient and cost effective, whilst upholding the same stringent professional auditing and certification procedures.
What does the standard look like
Since CUC is formally recognised by the EU as a Monitoring Organization (MO), national competent authorities trust our services to a high level. Certification of your Due Diligence System (DDS) against our Timber Legality Verification (TLV) standard assures compliance with the EU TR requirements. Our Due Diligence System Woodtrack allows you to meet all EUTR requirements step by step. On request, Control Union executes inspections in the country of origin to verify relevant issues. Documents used for proving legality can be checked by Control Union on legality.
