Control Union Bangladesh Sustainability Seminar 2019” was held on 14th November 2019 at Le Meridian, Dhaka in Bangladesh.
Mr. Dirk Teichert, Chairman of Control Union Asia Regional Team, officially opened the event and welcomed the attendees to the seminar.

About 500 representatives from many reputed organisations, brands, retailers and RMG professionals who are mostly involved with sustainability participated this seminar.
Among the respective speakers were Mr. Amish Gosai (South Asia Manager, Textile Exchange), Ms. Jaskiran Warrik (Director, South Asia, OCA), Mr. Kazy Mohammad Iqbal Hossain (South Asia Regional Sustainability Manager, Lindex), Mr. Muhammad Harunur Rashid (CR Bangladesh, Cotton Connect) and Dr. Binay Kumar Chowdhury (Chairman, CU India).
Mr. Fakhrul Islam Khan (Managing Director, CU Bangladesh) gave an idea about Organic cotton (GOTS & OCS), Recycle cotton and polyester (GRS & RCS), Animal Welfare standards (RDS & RWS), Collaborating to Secure the Future for the Organic Cotton Sector, Sustainability Promise for Future Generation, Innovation for Sustainable Textile and Higg Verification Experiences.
The most important aspects that were discussed during the seminar were the life cycle of Organic Cotton, Recycled Cotton, Recycled Polyester, Recycled Wool, RDS, RWS and FSC. Products made from cotton, down, wood, wool and polyester were on display.
Participants expressed that they enjoyed to touch and feel as well as see the product flow. A designated place to dispose of abandoned plastic bottles was also set up. The post consumed plastic bottles are then sent to a factory for recycling.
