Since April 2015 Michiel Scheffer is Deputy in the Province of Gelderland. His portfolio is: Economy, Education and Labor Market, Foreign Relations (including European Funds). He is also a member of the EU Committee of the Regions. Before this he was active as an entrepreneur in innovation management, and especially involved in projects in the research and development of new materials. From 2000 to 2013 he did that in his own company, from 2013 via Berenschot. He was also a lecturer at Saxion University in Enschede and guest lecturer at the Hogeschool in Kleve. He studied social geography in Utrecht and London.

Traci believes circular textiles hold a unique opportunity reclaim the human, environmental, and economic value lost at the end of the linear system. This is a woman obsessed.  She developed her expertise as an innovator at NIKE, where she focused on technology and process development for customization. This experience aligned textiles and complex challenges as the focal point of her work. In 2013, she launched REvolve Waste to elevate industry knowledge and increase collaboration to accelerate the transition to circularity.  She joined Circle Economy in 2016 to lead pivotal developments and help shape a new model for the global apparel industry.

Catarina is H&M’s Sustainability manager in UK and Ireland. She was a Fashion Director at Elle Sweden before joining H&M as global Head of Fashion PR. She has worked as Head of H&M’s seasonal trend work where H&M’s Conscious Collections (made of sustainable materials) were born, as well as Head of Sustainability  communication and Sustainable fashion advisor - always with a focus on making fashion sustainable and sustainability fashionable.

Adriana has been with G-Star since 2011 and has worked in design as well as denim fabric & finishing departments. Her current role as Denim & Sustainability Expert is of an interdepartmental nature where  she works with various departments to implement sustainable material targets and circular economy innovations within G-Star collections. To accomplish this, Adriana focuses on driving denim sustainability research, denim development and internal education. Adriana graduated from Drexel University in 2002 with major in Fashion Design and minor in Art History. In 2007, she moved from NYC to Amsterdam to further specialize in Dutch Art of the 17th Century at the UvA. Prior to G-Star, she worked as a Head Denim Designer in NYC for various celebrity brands. Her love for denim prompted her to start up a Denim Institute in 2008. In collaboration with other denim enthusiasts and educational organizations, the institute’s mission was to research the past, confront the present, and open doors to future innovations in sustainable denim design and production. Adriana also serves on the Advisory Board for House of Denim and for the ArtEZ Fashion Professorship.

José is currently a board member of the Dutch Creative Industries Council. In 2015 at ArtEZ, she established the Centre of Expertise Future Makers, a centre dedicated to new making processes in fashion and design. She holds a Visiting Professorship in Fashion Theory and Research at ArtEZ, Institute of the Arts in Arnhem, and works as an independent fashion curator. José is curator of the first edition State of Fashion under the title Searching for the New Luxury.

More information about Tracy Metz

Tracy is a journalist, author and presenter. She writes for NRC, De Groene Amsterdammer and Architectural Record and is a correspondent for the Radio1 talkshow Spraakmakers. Tracy is director of the John Adams Institute, the center of American culture in the Netherlands and has her own live talkshow Stadsleven, about living in cities.  She is originally from California and lives in Amsterdam.
